Cast Film Extrusion
Cast Film (CF) extrusion is a converting technique for the mass production of flexible packaging. Film thickness can range from less than 10 microns up to 200 microns (above 200 micros it is called sheet). The cast film can be either a monolayer or a multi-layer mainly up to 5 layers.
The molten polymer is onto a chill roll and being stretched in the machine direction to the desired film thickness. depending on the application the final film is slit to the desired film width. Cast film extrusion is typically used for LLDPE stretch film and PP packaging films.
Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are the most widely used resin for Cast Film extrusion.
